AutoHDMI by Taponyourglass — Complete Privacy & Transparency

Effective Date: August 1, 2026Last Updated: August 1, 2026

1. Our Core Commitment to Privacy

Welcome to AutoHDMI. AutoHDMI is created by Taponyourglass ("we", "our", or "us") as a lightweight helper utility designed specifically for televisions running Android TV or Google TV operating systems.

We believe privacy should be simple and transparent. AutoHDMI is designed with a single goal: to automatically switch your TV to your favorite HDMI input right when the TV turns on. We do not track your personal activity, we do not watch what you view on your TV, we do not display advertisements, and we do not sell or trade your data.

🔒 Privacy Guarantees at a Glance

  • No Personal Data Collected: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account details.
  • No Behavioral Tracking: Zero watching habits, zero search logs, zero ad profiling.
  • No Data Selling: We never sell, rent, or monetize technical information.
  • Privacy First: Performs its startup job locally on your TV.

2. Information We Process

AutoHDMI is designed to protect your privacy. We do not collect personal details like your name, phone number, or email address. We also do not watch or track what you watch on your TV.

🛡️ How We Keep Technical Information Anonymous

To count your 7-day free trial period and verify one-time lifetime license purchases, we process minimal, non-identifiable technical details:

  • Anonymous Random Device Key: A non-reversible, scrambled random key generated locally on your TV. This string contains no personal data and cannot be decoded back to identify you, your Google Account, or your physical device.
  • Anonymous Security Token: A secure key provided by Google Play Services to confirm genuine app installation.

We use this non-identifiable technical code strictly for these routine purposes:

Technical CodePurposeWhy We Do It
Anonymous Device KeyTo count how many days remain on your 7-day free trial. To run the free trial fairly
Anonymous Device KeyTo record your purchase so your lifetime license remains active. To process premium upgrades
Security TokensTo verify genuine app installation from Google Play.To keep the app secure

3. Required System Permissions

To do its job (automatically switching your TV to your favorite device when the TV turns on), AutoHDMI needs a few standard TV settings enabled. We only ask for settings that are strictly necessary.

Start at TV Turn-On

This allows the app to detect when your TV starts up from scratch (like after a power cut or restart) so it can switch to your chosen HDMI input right away.

Prevent TV Sleep Mode

This prevents the TV operating system from putting the app to sleep before it finishes switching your TV input during startup.

Accessibility Helper Service

Accessibility Helper Details

Android TV and Google TV use an Accessibility Assistant Service to complete the startup HDMI switch seamlessly.

How the Accessibility Helper Operates:
  • Purpose: It checks for the TV home screen opening only during the initial boot startup window after you turn the TV on.
  • Action: Once the main screen opens, it quickly switches the TV to your selected HDMI input (like your cable box or Apple TV) and then stops running.
  • Normal Remote Use: After switching, the helper disarms completely. Pressing the Home button on your TV remote control later opens your normal TV screen without interference.
  • No Data Read or Saved: This service does not read passwords, keystrokes, searches, or video content. Zero information is stored, logged, or transmitted.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

We use secure, industry-standard services to manage trial counts and handle store license verification:

Google Cloud Infrastructure

Provides secure cloud servers to verify trial durations and protect app communication.

Google Privacy Policy ↗

Store Purchase Verification

Verifies your lifetime upgrade purchase and syncs license entitlement with your Google Play Store account.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your anonymous random device key is protected on secure servers. Because we do not store your name, email address, or personal details, there is no way for anyone to link this random key back to your real-world identity.

Retention: We retain your anonymous key and license status so your lifetime purchase remains active even if you reinstall the app or change your TV settings later.

6. Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of the anonymous key associated with your TV. Because we do not store names or email addresses, we cannot search for your record by name.

To request deletion, copy your Anonymous Device Code (located inside the AutoHDMI app settings screen) and email it to support@taponyourglass.com. We will permanently delete it from our servers within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

AutoHDMI is a simple TV utility application suitable for family members of all ages, including children. Because we do not collect any personal information from any user, we do not collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

8. Policy Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any updates on this page and change the "Effective Date" at the top.
